Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique key case to mark the centennial of the company. Made from Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics
As a design-driven company, Bentley takes its aesthetics extremely seriously. It's evident in the precise positioning of its quilting, the choice of leather sourced from by-products of cattle, the timber from forests that are sustainably managed and the innovative patterns on its levers. As you approach a vehicle like the Continental GT W12, its stunning design is accentuated by carefully selected lighting.
The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever built. The rear tonneau of Continental GT, for instance included the biggest piece of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.
It is this bespoke design, craftsmanship and attention to detail that has established Bentley as the most sought-after automotive brand. The company is constantly pushing the boundaries using the most advanced technologies and craftsmanship. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear window sunroof and a crafted Apple iPad docking station.

A century after its founding, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership after years of fighting with BMW and BMW - celebrated its centennial in the year 2019. Design

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a custom-designed specification called the Centenary Specification for vehicles built in 2019. This includes contrast stitching and cross-stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered in Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a customized Bentley keycase to complete the Bentley experience.
Function
The Bentley Mulsanne key has an open button on the trunk, as well as a button that can start the car. The key also comes with a switch that allows you to turn on the parking brake. Each key takes about two days to make. Bentley estimates it takes approximately 500 man-hours to craft and assemble the average Mulsanne. One of the main reasons for that lengthy effort is a deliberate refusal to embrace modern tech. The Crewe factory workers do not use a machine to space perfectly-matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. And rather than letting the car's built-in sensors guide it into parallel and perpendicular parking spaces, drivers have to do it by hand.
Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization capabilities in a unique Mulsanne W.O.
